Welcome, all, to my blog’s new home. Please say hi, and I hope you find this a more pleasant experience to deal with than the old site. I think everything transferred here without too much of a hitch. Some things, such as titles for posts, will need to be fixed, and so will categories/tags as well as other sundry minor issues that shouldn’t interfere with your reading experience in any significant way.
There has been one change though — my feed will no longer give you the full post, but only a snippet. This is mostly to deter feed thieves who, in the past, have stolen my posts wholesale and published them elsewhere.
If you have any suggestions for how the site looks (or, for that matter, any problems with it, technical or otherwise), do let me know.

I will definitely look back with nostalgia on the old Xanga site, but the new venu looks great. Congratulations!

Thanks both!

Well, I think my work here is done!
Nice place. When you decide to move, you move! Nothing like being done with a dissertation to turn your mind to the old To Do list, I guess.
(And I don’t remember much in the way of recent encouragement, but I’m happy to be the final tea leaf to tip the scale.)

Haha, your work is done indeed! When you reminded me that I’ve been talking about moving for two years, that’s when I knew I had to get it done.

What a delightful refurbishment – I wish you many more years of fruitful writing from the comfort of your new home. 🙂
Toodlepip,

P.s. Your actual name is listed at the bottom of the page! Anonymity begone!

SayÅnara, Xanga – new place looks like a fresh coat of paint on a classic car.
Looking forward to many more years of Tea Journal.

Yeah, Xanga was getting old. I wanted to move since two or three years ago.

Congrats. I love the new look. Looking forward to reading many new posts : )

Thanks — I really ought to come down to TTG more often.

And what for real readers? I have just subscribed to your new feed and it is unusable outside a browser or offline. I only see the first few words of your posts, and nothing else.
I also note that there is now a feed for comments. Thanks! It was something your previous blog was lacking. (Or maybe it existed and I did not find it when I searched.)

To be honest I haven’t really thought about that, mostly because I don’t use feeds to read blogs myself. You make a good point, maybe I should change it and see how it goes. After all, now that I’m off Xanga, maybe I won’t get poached by random crawlers.
Julien Élie // January 21, 2011 at 7:29 pm |
Thanks for considering it!
Incidentally, would it be possible to keep more than the last 10 comments in the corresponding feed? I think it is not enough and people may lose comments if they do not synchronize the feed often (your blog is pretty popular you know!).
Have a nice day,
Julien

I see you have just modified the feed to provide the full contents of your great posts. Thanks for your reactivity.
After all, now that I’m off Xanga, maybe I won’t get poached by random crawlers.
Unfortunately, I would not count much on that. Crawlers will find the new blog very soon. Oh, they have already found it: the link to your new blog is in the last article of the previous one…
MarshalN // January 21, 2011 at 7:34 pm
Yeah, we’ll see. As for the comment feed — I seem to see more than 10 when I just put it on google reader? I get confused if I see more than a few comments so I like to see the comment tree (which I think is a real improvement over Xanga)
Julien Élie // January 21, 2011 at 7:55 pm
The last 12 comments are in the feed: https://marshaln.com/comments/feed/
(sorry, not 10)
MarshalN // January 21, 2011 at 8:40 pm
I don’t normally get THAT many comments on a daily basis — maybe things will change, but I’m happy to see where this goes after an initial period.

YES! Great move my friend!!
Toki don’t need to find his user name and password to comment and Congrats anymore!

I’m glad you did this, not least because it’s a sign you intend to continue thinking about tea in public.
I like the spare design, including the zisha porn at the top!

I appreciate the frankness and objectivity you bring to your postings. Taste the tea.

New home is a vast improvement – looking great.
best wishes from a quiet avid reader.

And thanks for continued reading!

Mazel tov! And may this enhancement benefit all sentient beings, especially those whose sentience turns to the pleasures of tea.
